Welcome to Pain Repurposed!
What I do here is all in the name. My aim is to do more than cope with my pain and repurpose it. One of the biggest ways I can repurpose my own pain is to try and break through the invisibility barrier that is chronic pain. It took me 12 years to get a diagnosis (and still waiting on others eyeroll) because even my doctors didn’t believe me.
If you or anyone you know suffers from a chronic pain condition such as (but DEFINITELY note limited to):
- spinal injuries
- nerve damage
and seriously the list could go on and on, then this blog is for you.
Pain Repurposed has been a long time coming. After one failed attempt I changed my niche to something that I know I can write about and keep my passion for because I want to be a helper on the path to visibility and coping.
So who am I?
My name is Jade Grundy and I live just north of Minneapolis, MN. Ever since I was little I was always dreaming up some scheme to start a new business or writing the start of my next novel in one of the thousands of notebooks I destroyed throughout the years (Thanks Mom!).
I started getting headaches in 2nd grade. Dehydration? Glasses? Oh well you’re just a kid, deal with it. At 21 after a medical separation from the Navy and an entire summer of misery I finally got a migraine diagnosis and it’s still destroying my life. 18 months later my doctor said “you might have PCOS? But the only thing to suggest it is your pain, so there is nothing we can really do for you.” And at 23 the ground started shifting underneath me, eating more than 200 calories at a time makes me need to lie down. I’ve been sick for 6 months (and forever thankful for my new DR. of Osteopathy) but there are currently no answers.
I am a creative through and through, and now I get to use my talents to document my trials and errors while sharing them with you.
When I’m not writing, I’m crocheting ear warmers, hats, and mug cozies, re-learning how to play the piano, or watching/listening to ALL of the true crime (Hello Wine and Crime).
Thanks for checking me out, I hope you’ll stick around a while!
